I just wanted to share some of our gardeners from 3rd grade who participated in the cabbage program! Talk about kids with green thumbs! WAY TO GO! I love doing this project each year and it so wonderful to be partnered with Bonnie Plants. We will submit our pictures and the weights of each cabbage and wait until December to see if any of our students will win the $1000 scholarship.

Under Construction
We are learning a lot about materials, design, and tools as we construct our structures each week. This week we are exploring bridges through four materials; Legos, Ello, Tinker Toys, and wooden blocks. It was interesting for the students to realize that you can't always build what you design. It was exciting to watch them build with new materials and with Legos that they have a lot of experience with already. A wide variety of problems came up during construction and as a team they had to solve those problems. Below are some pictures from all classes using the four different materials.

Under Construction...
This year we are exploring materials, tools, and design. So far we have been observing tools and how they are used to help us observe, measure, and make things. Tools help us do things better and more easily. Our classroom definition is a device or implement used to carry out a particular function, it usually aids in accomplishing a task. Take a look around your environment and find a tool that helps you to carry out a task. How is it used? Take some time to explore the use of tools.

Science Library
I have such a wide selection of science related books that I would love to share with students. I've told the students they can stop in after school and check out a book to read on a subject they might be interested in learning more about. They can have the book for one week and then they need to return it! They are always asking me questions about specific things and we use the books for reference. I'd like to extend that learning! Hope to see them soon!
